IPPET in Llennyrch, Wales
Llennyrch is a rare Atlantic oak woodland, one of the largest woodlands owned by the Woodland Trust in Wales, and part of the broader Snowdonia National Park area. Within Llennyrch, the Woodland Trust has recently acquired a peatland, and there is an interest in understanding its age and ecology, as well as to know whether trees (woodland) once grew on the site in order to inform management/restoration plans for the site. The Celtic Rainforest Project is also interested in this site, including its cultural land-use history, as it falls within the climate envelope of the Atlantic rainforest, and there are ongoing efforts to restore and preserve these unique forest communities. IPPET will address the interests outlined above, aligning with the visions of both the Woodland Trust and the Celtic Rainforest Project.
